New Gap Autumn Collection TV Ad

gp3.jpg
Gap have launched a new TV advert titled "Jeans Take Shape" promoting their Autumn collection which they say is all about the silhouette rather than any particular style or wash. I'm not really too sure what the difference between a style and a silhouette is but anyway the two main women's styles/silhouettes featured in the ad are boyfriend and skinny (see above), bootcut appears to have been banished for the time being.

Evisu Ltd Edition Hank-Dyed Indigo Denim Jeans

If you want to get yourself an extra special pair of jeans then have a look at this limited edition hand dyed pair from Evisu. Your average jeans are made from denim that has been made using the "rope dyed" method which is controlled by a machine. The above jeans are made using the "hank dyed" method which means that one man has manually dipped the denim into an indigo bath up to 30 times. What all this means is that these jeans have a unique colour and they are only available in an extremely limited edition.

Levi's Japan Special Edition Jeans

Levi's Japan is opening a store in the online shopping mall ZozoTown. To commemorate the occasion they are launching a number of limited edition men's jeans that appear (I can't really tell because most of the site is in Japanese) to have been created in collaboration with the likes of photographer Nick Knight (see above) and graphic designer Peter Saville.

Levi's Goes Dark & Skinny

Levi's are a bit like The Rolling Stones, historically and culturally they are the greatest in their field, however they haven't really done anything new or interesting in quite a few years. So it doesn't come as much of a surprise to see that six months after everyone else Levi's have finally twigged that dark and skinny denim has replaced faded bootcut jeans as the hipsters choice.

Liz Hurley - New Face Of Jordache Jeans

Jordache were one of the first designer denim labels back in the 1980s, however in recent years they seem to have been left behind by all the younger, hipper premium denim brands. In order to turn the tide and get themselves noticed again they have signed up Liz Hurley as their new face. Now whilst there is no denying that Ms Hurley looks pretty fantastic for a forty year old I can't help but think that if they wanted to raise their profile and sell more jeans it might have been wiser to choose someone a little younger.

Denim Shorts - Aguilera vs Carey

In many of my recent posts I have pointed out the current celebrity fixation with denim shorts. So far I thought this could only be a good thing. However along comes Mariah Carey on the first night of her World Tour proving that no matter how many stylists you have it is still possible to look like mutton dressed as lamb. It's no secret that Mariah is only interested in clothes that are either too tight or too short or preferably both. To show how far Ms Carey has missed the mark with her daisy dukes why not compare her outfit with the not too disimilar one worn by another multi-million selling Diva - Christina Aguilera.
