Designer Q & A - Superfine

This weeks Q&A is with Lucy Pinter and Flora Evans, Designers & Founders of Superfine.

1) Why do you think after 200 years jeans are still one of the most popular items of clothing?

L: They're the easiest and cutest thing to wear. You can dress them up or down.

F : They're sexy without being too 'try hard'.

2) Last time I counted there were over 50 brands of premium denim jeans, what makes your jeans stand out from the rest?
L: Our identity is strong & our imagery is important to us as it creates a whole look. Our backgrounds make Superfine a little more "fashion denim" I guess..

    F: We're London too.

3) Who do you imagine is a typical customer?
L: I think people with a little bit of a sense of style/fashion. I hope there's a good mix - all backgrounds, ages and sizes.

F: They've probably got a bit of Rock & Roll going on.

In the last 7 days she has been spotted out twice in a pair of jeans that are actually tighter than her own skin.

Which is why I think it is quite refreshing to see the actress Jessica Biel out and about on three separate occasions recently in the same pair of Paper Denim Stretch Flare Jeans.

House Of Dereon - Beyonce's Denim Label

by1.jpg
I thought I knew all the celebrity denim labels that were out there but this week I stumbled across House Of Dereon - the clothing brand developed by Beyonce and her mother. This label has been around since 2005 and seems to be aimed squarely at a mainstream female audience as the jeans are "darted at the back to accomodate natural body curves" and are priced under $100. The jeans themselves are not going to win any awards but at least it looks like some of Beyonce's own personality went into the designs which is more than can be said for a lot of celebrity denim brands.
