Designer Q & A - Denim Of Virtue

1) Why do you think after 200 years jeans are still one of the most popular items of clothing?
Firstly, jeans feel great as they are usually at least 98-100% cotton, secondly, they wear great for any occasion from cool to casual and thirdly, they reveal through time like the rings of a tree the adventures we've had...
2) Last time I counted there were over 50 brands of premium denim jeans, what makes your jeans stand out from the rest?
Premium jeans are defined by their fit, fabric, washes and styling and I think denim of virtue has all of that. They are elegant and clean with great detailing in our stitching, wash and styling - for example we were one of the first to use color and introduce the skinny and hiwaisted looks. But most importantly Denim of Virtue always sexy and flattering to the ass!! (hehe)
3) Who do you imagine is a typical customer?
They are usually body conscious and want a jean that will show that...they are trend setters and do not follow so they are open to new directions...they like a sophisticated jean, not one with over done pocket embroidery, yet is clearly a brand identifiable...

4) Which style and wash of your jeans are flying out of the shops the quickest at the moment?
The ‘patience’ skinny (see above) in colors as well as denim.
The ‘grace’ flare, is a great fitting flare jean in our ‘french blue’ wash.
The ‘bright’ hiwaisted in ‘dark london blue’ is another jean that is flying out the door.
We have been lucky to have so many celebrities and fashionista's who have supported us.
5) Where do you get your inspiration from?
Inspiration comes from everywhere, but I am lucky to live here in Los Angeles where we get the mixture of entertainment / fashion / world culture and weather that allows this to combination to explode year round.
6) Are there any essential jeans that everyone should have in their wardrobe?
Today everyone has a boot cut / a skinny and maybe a slim slim boot or straight. Everyone should find a jean based on their body type, the rise and leg opening which is most flattering...
7) What are the first pair of jeans you remember?
I remember two vividly.

I don't honestly know, but right now I’m into the skinny's!
11) Are you a "wash your jeans after each wear" person or a "wear your jeans for six months before you wash them" person?
Honestly, I used to be both but now with the great fabrics and washes, you don't have to try to hard to not wash or wash to get the look you want!
12) Do you own jeans for different occasions (for instance I have work jeans, smart jeans, weekend jeans, holiday jeans, jeans for going to concerts in, jeans for gardening in) if so what have you got?
