April 77's Fall 2009 collection is formed by unisex pieces inspired by the American southwest and the prairie lifestyle. Super slim jeans are paired with woven shirts and staple denim jackets that run the gamut from classic styles to a baggy hoodie with the simplicity and utility comparable to early Helmut Lang proportions. Though 'Aztec' and 'Navajo' aren't descriptions that typically inspire images of luxury, the young label was able to funnel the unexpected whim into something surprisingly modern and youthful. So will we adapt desert ponchos and nubby fringe into our denim wardrobes later this year? Well, there is definitely nothing like it right now, and what is good fashion if not a new way to look at an old trend...
