My Fashion's Night Out - Los Angeles

I've been looking forward to Fashion's Night Out for a few months as it is such a great opportunity to celebrate fashion. Even though the world is in an financial meltdown right now hopefully going out for this one night can help the economy in some small way. I was invited to lots of events but time-wise could only attend a few, so I began my night on Rodeo Drive and stopped by the Guess by Marciano store. The store was filled with models, candy, photo booths and there was a special appearance by Mark Salling of Glee. I loved checking out all their denim which I have to say looks better than any previous seasons I recall and chatting with the models who were all friendly and beautiful. I was looking forward to seeing Mark Salling as I am a pretty big Gleek (that's Glee Geek for those who don't watch the show), however unfortunately he didn't seem to be too into being there. The Guess PR team had spoken with his PR girl asking if I could take his photo but after having to wait around and then being told of his "photo restrictions" I could of cared less about meeting him or getting the shot. Here's the thing my Mom has worked in Hollywood in one way or another for my whole life and I've been around famous people and they are just like us, the only difference is when you aren't friendly to someone and you are famous word tends to get around more.

By this time I was running late for the Macy's Event at The Beverly Center to see Lisa Love (West Coast Editor Conde Nast), Louise Roe (Plain Jane & The City) and Daniella Clarke (Frankie B.) do a denim fashion show. Parking was worse than the drive but I got there just in time to catch the end of the show, meet Louise who is lovely and wearing the cutest denim jumper and chat with the Clarke family. Lisa Love spoke about why denim is such an industry in Los Angeles and also how in one year Fashion's Night Out had grown from two events to events all over the city. Lisa Love is an L.A. native and her own take on denim (paired with a sequin top) I took note of.

Off to the epicenter of hipster-ville, Fred Segal on Melrose (which is where I went last year) I was looking forward to seeing Taylor Jacobson and the J Brand team. I love Taylor she's super cool (I'm going to be doing a designer interview with her!) and very funny. Her Kasil collaboration is so cute, I love how her style seems to be more infused into this collection. Taylor looked awesome in skinny jeans, over the knee boots and a rad Rolling Stones t-shirt. Again, I can't say enough about how funny and sweet she really was, she said hello to every person who wanted a moment with her and was gracious (Mark Salling take note!). Fred Segal is great because within building there are so many different shops and this where J Brand launched their denim line so many years ago. I hadn't met the full J Brand crew and honestly I'm sort of shy when it comes to approaching people I don't know. From the moment I walked up and introduced myself to the team I felt like we were old friends, we laughed and told stories and even went on a wicked hat trying on spree. I was super pleased to see the camo leggings I reviewed are in more stores (they are so cute) and they have some amazing styles coming out!

As to my outfit for the night I wore my favorite brands (unintentionally) which I hadn't realized until someone asked me what I was wearing. My sequined Free People jacket, Hellz tank top, Frankie B. Moto-Cross leggings and Marc Jacobs shoes. This was a great night, I met so many people and celebrating fashion in the hopes of spurning the economy is a great reason for a party. Thank you to all those who made me feel welcome and I hope next year Fashion's Night Out grows even more!
