Today's Designer Q&A is with Caius Olowu is the designer from TEARS OF BLEU.

Why do you think after 200 years jeans are one of the most popular items of clothing?
Denim Jeans created a lifestyle, the durability of Denim, the uniqueness of the construction of the denim twill, the 1000 ways that denim jeans can be worn; you can wear denim Jeans with anything - Denim Jeans wear originally tailored.

Last time we counted there were over 200 brands of premium denim jeans, what makes your jeans stand out from the rest?
My brand brings newness, great fits, original wash finishes created over a 6 month naturally worn process, Tailoring, my Time in Japan gave me an understanding of quality and craftsmanship, the aesthetics' of my Denim Jeans, my jeans make you feel sexy.

Who do you imagine is your typical customer?
That person who is looking for something new, different, great fits, great washes.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I studied Civil engineering and worked as an Architect before I moved into Design (Fashion) - I am inspired by structure, I see denim only as a fabric with no limits to design, my inspiration comes from everything around me that influences my life.

Which style of your jeans are flying out of the shops the quickest at the moment?
My Men's and Women's Tailored Premium Turn-Up's, The "Cash & Chloe" both have fully Bounded inseams, Work wear Patch inserts, completely Tailored Structure - both bring complete newness to the Jeans Market.

Are there any essential jeans that everyone should have in their wardrobe?
Everyone should have a Slim Skinny / Skinny and a Regular Straight, Dark and Clean.

What are the first pair of jeans you remember?
My first Skinny's that my mother gave me in the early 80's and my first Levi' Denim Jacket that I still own after 15 years.

Are you a "wash your jeans after each wear" person or a "wear your jeans for six months before you wash them" person?
6 Months person or never Wash them.

Do you own jeans for different occasions?
No - I own 130 pairs of Jeans; I wear whatever pair I pick up that's laying on my floor.

What are some of your favorite places to shop for jeans?
I now only wear my own brand or brands that I have worked for - but I do own several pairs of G-STARS, GAP JEANS, H&M.

How important is it to your brand and how big of an effect does it have on your sales when celeb is seen wearing a pair of your jeans?
Celebs are big when it comes to pushing new trends and they do create sales on certain brands but I am not a celeb driven brand - the everyday person is my celeb.

Who is your favorite denim icon male?
MARLON BRANDO In the 1950 MOVIE THE "WILD ONES" that movie made denim what it is today.

Which person, dead or alive, would you most like to see in a pair of your jeans?
David Beckham is a style icon.

What is the worst denim crime?
1. When there are more holes on a pair jean than fabric
2. BRITNEY AND Justin in their head to toe Denim outfits.

If jeans had not been invented, what would we all be wearing?
Then we all would be lost - I would have invented Jeans. It's like saying that cotton never existed; it's impossible not to imagine if Jeans wear never invented.
