Sharing a little personal business....
Sorry for starting all of pour posts so late today! Life has been a little crazy and today we were given a little closure to one a challenge we have been facing since January.
Thought I would share a little personal info with you all....
In January, my daughter, little blogger, author and Denimology kids denim reviewer, Christin Morgan became very ill.
She had been fighting off ringworm for a couple years. We diligently treated it yet, no medicine would work. She'd caught other fungal infections as a toddler and I suppose her immune system was used to the medicines that would fix her ringworm.
There was a medicine that we had her put on and it seemed to be working on the ringworm yet Christin was having horrible chills, a high fever and having abnormal breaths. I took her to the hospital emergency room 3 times and on each occasion they told us it was just a viral infection. I was convinced it was meningitis because she ran her fever for 17 days and said her head was killing her.
Finally we made our 4th and final emergency room visit on her 12th birthday. Doctors were very concerned upon our arrival and started running tests furiously! She had swelling on her brain, for which, doctors gave her a cat scan.
Well... back to the ring worm... thanks to those open wounds on her skin, (they would heal up to a small sore but never completely close and if you stopped treating them they would open right back up to ringworm again) she was able to catch a bacterial infection in her blood called Septicemia, though some doctors (and we saw many) called it Sepsis.
Morgan celebrated her 12th birthday in the hospital! The staff was super nice at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. They sent in an aide for sick children so that Christin could craft and they also brought her a slew of birthday presents!
And then we left.... with many prescriptions to fill but with no health insurance... le sigh... that was pricey!
Because she was so ill, I talked to my friend Brian Fink, the Production Director at 93-3 FLZ AND the creator of iheartradio's Club Phusion, and he let her meet her one true love, Cody Simpson!
My baby had to home school for the duration of her 6th grade year. Today she officially finished her classes and will be back in public school in her honors classes yet again!
And here is my little beacon of health today as she was officially declared healthy today!
