Intermezzo NYC - Spring 2013 Part 1
Intermezzo January 2013 was like a big denim party - all the "hello" and "how have you been", all the beautiful denim which created a kind of party mood. The show was super well attended and tons of people were buying. Hurray for the American economy!
This time I am deeply satisfied with what I saw and I can hardly wait for spring so we can see all the new and beautiful denim in the stores and on the streets. The biggest "Thank You Denim brands" comes from the bottom of my heart. No upholstery and shimmer and curtain material jeans YAY!!
If I have to sum up my Intermezzo impressions in a few words, I would say:
Denim is definitely coming back to its roots - meaning that prints continue, yes, but they are much more printed denim, than printed twill-stretch-spandex jeans.
Dark blue denim is OUT, ripped and bleached and destructed is IN.
White jeans in all shapes and forms, from clean whites to dirty and ripped whites will be THE thing coming summer.
In terms of styles: skinnies and boyfriends, a few flares, but I don't remember seeing much of a bootcut anywhere.
Oh, and you are going to notice the auspicious absence of any J Brand mention here, and this is for a reason: They have explicitly forbidden to take any pictures. Oh well, the plight of being a super brand: everybody wants to copy SIGH.
So, enjoy the "show"!
