Dsquared² Autumn/Winter 2012 Menswear
It's time to bring on the camp!! Staying true to their brand, Dean and Dan Caten littered the runway of their Dsquared² Autumn/Winter 2012 Menswear catwalk with imature school boys. Some threw darts and spit spitballs while the Caten's extra rotten apples smoked cigarettes down the runway.
As per usual, the collection consisted of contemporary sportswear down their catwalk. It was nothing they haven't done before, but the focus was blatantly on the clothes, rather than the showmanship.
Diesel Black Gold A/W 2012 Menswear
The focus of Diesel Black Gold's Menswear Collection for Autumn/Winter 2012 foremost focuses on fine tailoring and dandy-inspired suiting. In my opinion, the new collection is made for one man who lives a multitude of lives. His Wednesday is different to his Monday, and that day too is distinct from his Saturday. The brand blends classic style with metallic details and utilitarian like trims. Gentleman will be dressed glamorously, in rich tones that elicit an air of royalty.
I'm simply fawning over this denim suit in the up top image! So Jil Sander meets Diesel!
G-Star S/S 2012 Women's Bread and Butter RTW Collection
G-Star is all about denim dresses for their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. It's been a while since I saw quite so many beautiful denim dresses in one place. Most brands seem to focus more on the jeans and shorts at the moment. Can you just imagine yourself at a summer night party wearing the absolutely adorable, flirty denim dress shown above?! What a great option for anyone who is tired of their LBD!
G-Star is also showing some "barely there" shorts. Doesn't the one below remind you a bit of a 50's bathing suit bottom? ;-)
All in all, G-Star is letting us in on an absolutely unique and superbly stylish collection. Why am I not surprised?! ;-) Check back here for more shots from their lookbook soon.
G-Star S/S 2012 Men's Bread and Butter RTW Collection
This G-Star Spring/Summer 2012 collection made me think: this is a real denim RTW show. All the models were clad in at least one denim piece, if not double denim. G-Star's fashion predictions for next season seem to be baggy jeans, drop crotch and the eternal ARC pants (even those in a much looser fit), but paired with suspenders, tucked in shirts and the occasional blazer. I would say their look is sophisticated, yet wearable street denim. Once more, G-Star is ahead of the times, while most of the other brands are showing skinny for men, G-Star is already so over it.
And here is some great news: G-Star is announcing the launch of its US web store. The web store offers a variety of men's and women's denim, jackets and key pieces from the ad campaign. We'll have more details coming up so watch this space!
Osklen S/S 2012 RTW Runway Looks
Osklen, (one of the biggest Brazilian denim brands) had a huge fire in Feb 2010 that destroyed their whole factory and headquarters here in Rio. They lost all their archives and all their samples - their whole history. Now they're back. Like the Phoenix bird, who in Greek mythology burned up and rose from his own ashes. Thus, their latest collection is aptly called Fénix. These are some of their RTW images from their runway show during the Sâo Paulo Fashion Week. This is a W I L D collection! Yellows, reds and turquoises for both men and women, lots of tribal patterns and nothing of skinny or anyway near "normal" tops and jeans. Osklen's stock in trade is exaggeration. Super drop crotch pants, huge tops and extreme cut jeans that don't come cheap. The average price of their clothes runs from $100 for t-shirts to $400 for pants. And you know what? I'd rather buy just one or two pieces of their unique clothes and coordinate them with other more basic clothes than spend a lot of money for tons of ordinary clothes.
Balmain RTW SS2012
Shine, Olivier Rousteing, Shine! I can't be sure what happened exactly... but in my fine opinion Mr. Rousteing should be working for the queen-McQueen that is!
A smashing collection was sent down the Balmain Spring 2012 runway. It includes fine tailoring, beautiful details and glamorously elaborate embroideries! The denim was there but the grungy feel all but disappeared.
