Diesel Black Gold Runway Show F/W 2013
There can't be a complete FWNY (Fashion Week New York) without the traditional DBG runway show! For me, every season this is the high point of the week. DBG was showing an amazing collection, all in black and white, heavily studded leathers and jeans, studded skirts and dresses and coats. Zippers and detailed stitching everywhere. Studs on top of studs and zippers - you got the idea, right!
I took some more detailed pictures backstage, and I especially want to point out the new style that called my attention: instead of skinny ankle zipper jeans and leather pants, most of the styles are kind of a micro flare with ankle zipper (see detailed image below). Definitely helps to make you look taller and slimmer when paired with your stilettos or booties.
About this collection:
"With velocity as a core theme, the clothes are tailored closely to create an aerodynamic and anatomical silhouette. Diesel Black Gold's irreverence and rock chic run through pieces whose streamlined lines suggest craftsmanship, textures research and finishes.
A leather and waxed cotton hybrid motor jacket and coat, drawing inspiration from iconic motoring garments and collaging them together. Structured shoulders, lean fit, belted and pocketed, with zipper, buckle and snap closures. The leather sleeves and shoulder have quilted details with leather, used to bind, trim and finish the garment.
Engineered biker pants are lean and fitted, anatomically seamed to sculpt and articulate movement. Multiple fabrications, combinations and finishes: raw or treated denim, wool flannel, leather and waxed cotton.
A tailored hybrid jacket cuts denim and leather into wool. Lean shape with leather biker shoulder and sleeves and quilted zipper and snap details. The torso is pocketed and stitched in raw denim merged with grey wool mélange flannel.
The tailored racer jacket in military green wool is coated with a black leather finish. An essential jeans jacket juxtaposed with the sophistication of black corded lace. Leather biker dress encrusted with metal studs."
''I want to capture a variety of materials and designs within one singular look'', says DBG brand new designer, Andreas Melbostad. ''Above all, I want to create a collection for the strong, confident and sexy new Diesel Black Gold woman."
Kudos to Andreas Melbostad for creating clothes that are not only extremely extravagant and special, but also totally wearable.
Diesel Black Gold Runway Show F/W 2013 Video
This collection reminds me of some old Beatles movie, or Jimi Hendrix....the clothes definitely were inspired from this area. Predominant shades of purple and burgundy, satin materials, lots of tuxedo jackets and - most interesting - the pant's lengths have gone shorter. Exactly like it used to be in the 60's.
Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear
The pumping sounds of indie group Tennis mixed with DJ Cassidy's beats riffed off Minkoff's reinterpretation of Slim Aarons photos. The models were cooler, more modern versions of the 1960s jet-setters and socials that he snapped as they lounged by the pool.
Boot-cut jeans with floral bottoms, faded motorcycle vests, sunset-print bomber jackets, and a grandma-chic tweed shorts suit. The trendy track pant even got a bit of a refresher--colorful flowered stripes went down the front of the leg instead of the side. Midway through the show was a series of bandanna-inspired looks, which were the highlight of the collection. Case in point? White jeans with red embroidery paired with a matching "Leno" jacket and topped off with a '70s-style headpiece. Minkoff also took a risk with an open-back, utility-style jumpsuit and a pair of snakeskin overalls, but managed to pull them both off as only a true Minkette can.
@Diesel Black Gold Runway Show
Just checking in to tell you the latest trends from Diesel Black Gold's SS13 collection. The runway show took place at the Pier 57 in the Meatpacking District. The vibe was amazing and the place was absolutely packed.
Here are a few impressions of what I saw for next year's summer:
First and last and middle of all: LEATHER!
white leather, black leather and black and white leather.
Leather pants, mini skirts and leather tee-shirts.
Actually, the whole collection was kind of black and white - the occasional color only showed at some minor details on a couple of jeans.
Lots of mesh dresses and skirts showing plenty of skin, and talking about showing skin - most of their booties were cut out booties that showed plenty of feet as well!
Check out DBG's collection - doesn't it look like those old black/white photographs - I so loved it!
Diesel F/W 2012 Catwalk Show
Diesel - well, Diesel is always Diesel. Even thought this brand has been around since for-ev-er! they always manage to come up with new and exciting designs and styles. And I swear to you, it is one of the brands that I obsess with every single season.
Dsquared² Autumn/Winter 2012 Women's RTW
There is just one thing for me to say about this Dsquared² F/W 12 collection: All of their jeans are my favorites. The skinnies, half destructed, patched and low rise jeans (above), and the dark jeans, which are straight leg, so you can roll them up to show off your stilettos or boots.
Their denim is by far the most exciting heavyweight, no stretch denim for all the jeans. Although, the colored and shiny jeans shown, do have a little stretch.
I wish I had a BIG credit card. I want to buy one of each in each color and wash! But let's get real, right, for about $400 a piece..... I'm just gonna keep playing the lottery, LOL !
