Diesel Black Gold Spring 2011 Menswear & RTW
Inspired by a trip out West, Sophia Kokosalaki dispatched an earth-toned, crafty collection of great leather blazers/bombers, pastel colored cut-off shorts and wide leg jeans for Diesel Black Gold's FALL collection.... hmmm wait... did I say Fall? I thought it was the new Spring line??? Apparently that does not matter to Kokosalaki.
And just like in Marc Jacobs new collection, this line-up clings to the 70's for inspiration. And continuing to connect the dots of denim design of yesteryear, the 90's grunge fashions were inspired by the 70's as well. I mention this because the current themes of NYFW happen to be a immense disco sliding into grunge feeling.
Diesel's Black Gold collection consists of these key elements: Tiny Rolled-Up Shorts, Wide Leg Jeans, Light Weight Denims, High-Waist lines, Earth Tones and Pastels with Leather Jackets. And gentleman all your jeans appear to be sitting like the classic 501's.
Gavin Rossdale in DSquared2 Jeans & Kingston in Jeans Too!
Gavin Rossdale and his son Kingston Rossdale take in the Edun Spring 2011 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week sitting next to Edun Designer Ali Hewson and Pop Magazine Editor Dasha Zhukova in New York City. Gavin wore his trusty DSquared Slim Dark Evening Wash Denim Jeans to take in the Edun program. And isn't Kingston just the cutest accessory you ever saw a man take with him to a fashion show? He looks like a micro Gavin in his little blazer, baggy jeans and unlaced boots. And I shall remind you this fashionable little guy is only 4.
Alexander Wang Spring 2011 RTW
Alexander Wang sent an all white collection down the runway during his Spring 2011 RTW show. I have to say I am frightened quite a bit. I'm a part of the 98.5% of people who wear OVER a size 2. How will I wear your fashions this season? Deep in the jeans I'm wearing is a lot more baby got back bubble than Honda like Fonda. I can't be seen in all white, not even in Belgium for goodness sake! Mr Wang, I applaud your attempt but I beg to differ on your reasoning. Please give us back our studs, darkness, denim and leather.
Robert Geller S/S 2011 @ New York Fashion Week
Robert Geller hid a few decent looking denim pieces in amongst the olive/khaki on display at his Spring/Summer 2011 show at New York Fashion Week. Although there was a military-type theme to the collection, it was really more of an anti-establishment peacenik vibe and the faded denim sat well with the army-style overcoats.
Charlotte Ronson Spring 2011 RTW Denim
I think Charlotte Ronson has been thumbing through pictures of me in 1993. I guess it should come to no surprise that Ms.Ronson's inspiration was none other than Claire Danes character, Angela Chase, in My So-Called Life. Angela was the most stylish girl I'd ever witnessed on TV as she moped through the halls of Liberty High. The denim shirt made in the likeness of Kurt Cobain's infamous tied at the hip flannels excites me tremendously. Florals and plaids complement each other through out the entire collection.
Now the only thing that has me concerned is.... since I wore it the first time, does that mean I can't wear it this time around as well?
