Stolen Girlfriends Club Fall 09 Runway

Fledgling New Zealand label Stolen Girlfriends Club finds its footing with a brassy fifth collection, its strongest and most complete yet. A mash-up of all trends counterculture from the past thirty years proves to be an inspired exercise in mixing, but more importantly, indicates the eclectic nature of dressing in the iPod era. Just as Blondie can share a playlist next to Beck, SGC pours a multitude of influences into each look, which can only be described as alternaglam. Fusing grunge with goth, the meaning of tartans, tutus, and ripped jeans are renewed again. Flashy but cheap materials like velour and faux fur are layered over destroyed denim. Barely-there cutoffs are paired with thigh-high cobweb stockings, and what seems to be the half cut off are reused as denim stockings. As with all good punk rebellions, the resulting unexpected flashes of skin dares a stare from the even the primmest.

Kenzo Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

Here are some shots of the Kenzo Spring/Summer 2010 Collection which was shown at Paris Fashion Week recently. The safari influenced collection didn't actually feature much denim but what was on display was certainly interesting thanks to the heavy fading and and dirty paint-stain type treatments that were used. Alexander Wang 2010 Resort Collection

We don't normally see denim in resort collections, but leave it to Alexander Wang's easy breezy style to incorporate the fabric. Love the way this collection is relaxed and yet still so chic!

Berlin Fashion Week: Boss Orange S/S 2010

Hugo Boss re-launched their Boss Orange line at the start of Berlin's Fashion Week. Boss is one of the largest denim producers in the world. Thier new collection featured the rolled-up jeans trend we've seen so much of this season, as well as denim coats and jackets, chambray shirts and of course, ripped denim.

Milan Fashion Week: Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2010

Dolce & Gabbana's menswear line proves that destroyed denim is not going away anytime soon. If anything, guys will just roll the legs up a bit this season, throw on a pair of longjohns underneath (so as not to show too much skin) and add a luxurious jacket to complete the look. Check out the new Spring/Summer line.

Dirk Bikkembergs S/S 2010 Collection

Dirk Bikkembergs' Spring/Summer 2010 Collection was show in Milan recently and was apparently inspired by a fiery red painting the designer came across in Australia. This inspiration extended to the denim which came in a selection of shades from lusty red to dusty red/black all complete with the obligatory rips. (Source: DenimHunt)
