G-Star Raw Live Stream FOR NYFW!

This year aspiring fashion journalists were able to win a trip to New York Fashion Week by entering an online social media competition from G-Star. All they had to do to become RAW Reporters was sign in with their Twitter, Facebook, YouTube or Flickr account, show off their talent, and gather lots of votes from their friends.

Today the winners are revealed: Violet, an American YouTube presenter; Vincent, a Belgian Facebook fanatic; Cindy, a Canadian tweeter; and Lucio, an Italian photographer. Also, a couple of golden tickets were given to young bloggers BryanBoy and Jessie Thorpe (that's me OMG!) from Denimology.com.

The catwalk show will also be streamed live on Facebook and the G-Star homepage, and viewers can give live feedback via an interactive buzzword tag cloud next to the stream.

G-Star started the social networking contest because today's world is dependent on social networking because it's the fastest way to find out and discuss, fresh trends and new styles. The RAW Reporter competition was the first time a fashion brand has invited social media reporters to broadcast show coverage through Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube. This week G-Star also announced a free iPhone app: the RAW City Guide New York, which will be updated throughout NYFW by RAW Reporters and the app's users.

On Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 at the Hammerstein Ballroom, G-Star Raw will present the men's and women's NY Raw Fall/Winter 2010 collection during New York Fashion Week. G-Star says this seasons line will show its signature denim craftsmanship coupled with elegant tailored pieces in vibrant colors to create a collection that exudes 'Raw' Luxury. Above are a couple of the sketches for F/W 2010.

A couple of weeks ago we reported about the collaboration between Vivienne Westwood and Lee and today we have the first official look at the new collection which was shown at Milan and Hong Kong Fashion Weeks. The jeans which come in four styles for men and five for women were designed by VW and take inspiration from her own own seminal punk and pirate collections of the 1970/80s. The jeans, denim shirts and t-shirts will be sold through Vivienne Westwood store from July 2010.

Dr Denim had their Fall/Winter 2010 Collection on show at Stockholm Fashion Week yesterday. As you would expect there was plenty of denim on the catwalk including the above acid wash mini-skirt and bustier, some tie-dye jeans for both men and women and a couple of pairs of jeans that looked to have been turned inside out complete with the pockets hanging down the outside (see bottomw).

Replay Fall/Winter 2010 Collection

replay_10.jpg

Italian brand Replay showed at Amsterdam Fashion Week recently and the catwalk was bursting with denim for men and women. There were jeans, jackets, waistcoats, gilets and even denim bags. I particularly like the patched jeans (shown above & below) and the men's denim motocycle jacket (shown bottom).

Cheap Monday F/W 2010 - Stockholm

caroline_2.jpg

When a denim brand is showing it can sometimes be a little uninspiring to watch, at least if it's a runway show. But Cheap Monday went past boring to beyond awesome for their Fall/Winter 2010 show at Stockholm Fashion Week. First, the location was truly amazing, they showed at Magasin 9, a huge storage-like warehouse with a long simple runway and perfect lightning, just the way I like it! Frida Gustafsson, Sara Blomqvist and Elsa Sylvan were working the runway like the supermodels they are. And the music was pumping hard! Besides this awesome-ness there was clothes - obviously. What caught my eye the most was a pair of jeans with mesh panels (see below). This feels real fresh and gives the denim a sporty look. I also liked the lace up jeans (see below), they looked steaming hot! The color scheme was black and lots of greys and they showed several stone washed jeans. The jeans silhouette was skinny, real skinny. Another trend was the grey hoodies underneath coats and blazers (see bottom). I absolutly love this trend, hoodies go so great with jeans so I'm glad they are back in fashion!

This report was posted by our newest contributor Caroline who runs the fabulous style blog caroline.feber.se, if you haven't checked it out before go there now, you will love it.

Victor & Rolf Fall 2010 Menswear-1.jpg
Those crazy kids! Kooky designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren slapped black paint on everything in their Fall 2010 menswear line including their jeans! Then for a touch more flare they rolled them up way high! Where's the flood?
