Betsey Johnson Fall 2011 RTW

Seems I somehow missed this show during fashion week but it is so killer I knew we still had to show it.

Betsey Johnson's Valentine's Day themed NYFW show introduced the launch of her lower-priced Pink Patch line. Basically the collection is a reprisal of Johnson's greatest designs including full petticoated prom dresses, cabbage rose and skull-print leggings and tees, Victorian corset blazers and everything costs under $100! As for her models, Johnson had 50 employees and friends strut in her Pink Patch designs before she closed the show by cartwheeling down the runway and dancing with Patricia Field to Cher.

Chanel Fall 2011 Runway

chanel_Fall2011_SG.jpg

The Fall 2011 collection from Chanel takes what we know, love and admire about the brand and turns it slightly askew. Women definitely are wearing the pants in Karl Lagerfeld's realm where tweed dresses and skirts were paired denim leggings, slouchy denim trousers give a Three Musketeers feel and wide pants (ala Katherine Hepburn) are abundant. While some may of seen this dark collection as apocalyptic in my opinion this very much reflects the world we live in today, which yes is sometimes dark.

Chloé Fall/Winter 2011 Paris Fashion Week RTW Denim

-chloe-denim-looks-Fall-2011-fashion-week-2011-jt-paris--15.jpg

Chloé designer Hannah MacGibbon opted to give us only a sample size taste of Chloé's denim during the Fall 2011 Paris Fashion Week show. In lieu of the classic denim styles we here at Denimology love, MacGibbon offered plenty of her new favorite print.... Snakeskin. In it's entirety, the Chloé show felt very much retro 70's and could have been a real smash if it weren't for all the serpent sheathed... well.... everything. Of the two indigo hued items she did show, they looked more suited to Spring 2011 than Fall/Winter 2011 - 2012 if you ask me.

Vivienne Westwood Fall/Winter 2011 RTW

The girlie men in Vivienne Westwood's 2011 menswear show definitely bestowed more denim than the ladies in the Fall designer's RTW program. But there were still a couple of pairs included in the ready to wear line. Those pairs were heavily foiled and paired with glitter heavy shoes that would please even Dorothy of Oz.

Isabel Marant Fall/Winter 2011 Collection

In her Fall/Winter 2011 Collection, Isabel Marant shifted her focus to a Native American inspired theme. The French designer has embraced American sportswear whole-heartedly by designing upscale jeans, sweaters and sweatshirts as previously displayed. Her denim pieces came in the form of patchwork button-downs, vests and dark-washed oversize jackets. While the line does appear a bit costume-like, we expect that it will translate well as individual pieces in every day life.

Dsquared² Fall 2011 RTW

-dsquared2-fall-2011-ready-to-wear-jt-22.jpg

Oh god! Not this again! was my initial reaction to seeing the female counterpart to the male Fall 2011 Dsquared² collection. I HATED that collection. Not because the denim was wrong but because of basically everything else.

Luckily for us the Dsquared² RTW Fall collection is styled with more grit and glam and with more variation than the men's. Their denim was beautiful as always and while I still don't care for the hats or the theme.... this go around was a lot more fun. It felt inspired by Wild West and showed a smidgen of that campiness the twins are well known for.
