I am kind of DYING over these jeans... I just found them today and I ache to the core. Who is with me? I think we all need a pair of these jeans. Available at Shopbop.com, these amazing Rococo jeans come in Gold and Black versions. :)

The gold pair though... Be still my heart... Le sigh...

Lisette Loves: Boyfriend Jeans

Aiden in Gemini.jpg

As we are officially in the so long awaited SUMMER season now, I would love to point out a few boyfriend jeans styles which I find to be a perfect solution for those of us that don't feel comfortable wearing shorts in the city but suffer with the skinny tight stretch jeans, known to make you sweat like hell (and freeze to death in winter!). For me, these boyfriend jeans are perfect :

- I can upsize and wear them baggy and loose, rolled up at the cuffs, with a skimpy tanktop (check out Alessandra Ambrosio)
- I can wear them true to size, meaning, not skinny and not baggy, but kind of loose (Katie Holmes)
- I can also wear them as almost skinny, the term is slouchy, and wear them paired with anything that I would wear if they were skinny jeans (Rihanna)

When it comes to my own personal jeans, I am really the most difficult customer, as you can all imagine. My jeans have to be exactly the way I want them to be. Period. I don't take a "more or less" and I don't ever compromise. I live, sleep and love in denim, so I demand the BEST.

Here are the options that I definitely absolutely declare as the perfect boyfriend jeans.

JBrand gives us the Aiden. This is a slim cut boyfriend jean in a light wash, with some destruction on the leg only. They are 100% cotton and therefore super ideal for hot summer weather.

True Religion, yessir, True Religion is giving us a boyfriend style as well. It is a heavier denim, also 100% cotton, but being that it is to be worn loose and not skin tight, it does not make you sweat. These come in a very typical true religion darker destroyed wash with their famous tell-tale flap pockets, and they also come in a totally bleached out faded light blue which is perfect for summer, sand and beach cafe's where you can enjoy your happy hour margarita.

And there is the Josefina from 7 For All Mankind - famous already for a couple of seasons. I love that they are edgy even though they do have stretch, and are of a lighter weight denim. Their wash is dark blue with whiskers and strategical small destruction They come with a button fly which I adore, I think that real boyfriend jeans should have button flies indeed! They are cut a little larger on the leg, more like straight jeans, which makes them the perfect pair of jeans if you want to roll them up even to the middle of your calves.

Cult Of Individuality Alter Ego
And last, but in NO WAY, the least, are the Alter Ego boyfriend jeans made by Cult of Individuality. Very heavy Japanese denim, with the slightest bit of stretch. They come in a darker wash that has been treated, sand washed and destroyed, and patched up - just the way I love it when I want to project my rebel mood.

So kids, let me know it this has helped to find your very own boyfriends. :-)

And YES, leave your comments and let us know if you have any suggestions or if there is a special pair of boyfriends you would like us to know about. :-)

Denimology x Earnest Sewn Denim Challenge

IMG_2809.jpg

Pretty excited about this project! Earnest Sewn sent us a couple pairs of jeans to rock EVERYDAY for 30 days!

The Creative Director of Earnest Sewn, Benjamin Talley Smith, came up with an idea to work with a few different fashion blogs for a project that will last for a month. Earnest Sewn gifted us a pair of jeans to customize and wear every day for a 30 day period. We wear the jeans for 30 days straight (without washing them! Eek!) and document the way they begin to change on the website (with pictures and/or a written post).

What do we expect to see? By not washing the denim, a natural whiskering affect will begin to take place and a unique wash will be created.

At the end of the 30 days, Benjamin Talley Smith will choose a winner (i.e. the style he likes most) from the participating bloggers and re-create that jean for the next season! He will name a wash after the winner that will be sold in Earnest Sewn stores and on the Earnest Sewn website!

For our men's jeans, I selected the coolest guy I know to rock these babies for a month straight -- my first born child, Jason. He also coincidentally wears only ONE pair of jeans until they fall to pieces. He was mos' def' the man for the job.

- Today we are showing you Jason's jeans before their customization.
- Tomorrow, you will see my jeans pre-customization.
- Monday you will see Jason's and my customized jeans!

Jason's first impression:

"Already a good break after one wear. Future honeycombs will be brilliant."

How One Man Stretches His Imogene & Willie Jeans

380730_10150685255684477_94549024476_9120955_1382764482_n.jpg

As soon as I saw this picture in my facebook feed I knew I had to share! This guy has a lot of junk in his trunk jeans! In an attempt to stretch his jeans a bit, Justin Van Laeken used this unique technique.

From Imogene & Willie:

Jessica got a text from her friend Tara last night that said, "FYI, this is how my husband stretches his Willie's." They were a little tight, so he wet the waistband and started stuffing shit in there: an igloo cooler, 3 pencils, 2 hammers, 4 books (chuck klosterman, cookbook, gardening book, and a book on socialism), 4 markers, 3 screwdrivers, and a mini bike pump.

We wanna know if it helped stretch his jeans! Did his trick work, I&W?

Ask Lisette - Your Questions About Denim

asklisette2.jpg

Those of you who are regular readers of Denimology already know about Denimology and about me. But for those of you who haven't "met" us yet, let me tell you a bit more.

Denimology is the premier source of information about, and sales of, denim for hundreds of thousands of readers all around the world. I am a hard core denimhead. I have been living and loving and dreaming in denim for most of my life. Being with Denimology gives me the amazing chance to meet many of the denim brands, the owners, designers and - well, people that make the denim world happen. I frequent trade shows here in NYC, and when I travel in Europe or South America, I visit the denim brands wherever I happen to be. I visit the showrooms, and I have become friends with many of the CEO's and designers. This gives me a connection to check out all kinds of jeans in all shapes and styles. Lastly, I work closely with Denimology's denim reviewers, which gives me even more insight into the jeans they are reviewing - in terms of fit, sizing and how they "wear". This is why I can modestly say (hmmmm, maybe not so modestly!), that I know almost all there is to know about denim!

Now let's talk about you. This column is mainly for the real denimheads among you that love denim - not only commercial denim, but those very hard to find, different styles and washes. It's for those of you who have questions concerning fashion jeans or about any brand or style. It's for those of you who wear and love jeans not because it's in style but because jeans are your identity. It's for those of you who want help to find that special pair of raw selvedge jeans you are looking for, or who want help to find a very specific hard core style that is not "fashionable" and that nobody seems to carry. And it's for those of you who have a thought to share with others like you - a thought that will reach the entire Denimology community.

This will be a regular column here on Denimology. Please, don't hesitate to post your questions in the comments section or email them to me and I will answer them ASAP. I am committed to denim and to all of you who care about denim and who want to know more about denim. My motto is: Live, love and dream denim. And my special thanks to Denimology for giving me this opportunity to interact more closely with our readers. :-)
