Are You A Glitter-Girl? Sinclair's Foil Jeans

Royal Brilliance

One of the things I most love about "doing" denim is meeting a person that "does" denim as well. By this I mean, someone who is as passionate and involved and deeply in love with denim as I am. Someone who really cares about what he is doing and does not just see denim as something to make a quick buck with. I think I met a soulmate in Vincent Flumiani, designer of SINCLAIR. He shows his passion for denim and women through his creations, and he tells us what he perceives of what type of woman should wear what kind of jeans.

Check out the incredible quotes we, at Denimology exclusively, received from Vincent - and, most importantly, check out these amazing glitter jeans, or foil jeans, as Vincent calls them. You can find them at Revolve right now!

Q: What was your inspiration for the metallic "Foil" wash?

A: Moxie
Grit
Spirit
Power
Ability
Confidence
Courage
Determination
Tenacity

Q: How would you describe the "Sinclair" girl?

A: The Sinclair girl has not arrived--she is becoming.
The Sinclair girl walks into the room bringing eternity with her.
The Sinclair girl is not concerned with grasping beauty, but celebrating it.
The Sinclair girl does not narrow the camera's eye, but widens the whole room.
The Sinclair girl does not seize the spotlight, but drowns it out with sunlight.
The Sinclair girl is not a billboard, but a neon arrow.
The Sinclair girl is more than a vision. She is an encounter.
The Sinclair girl opens hearts as well as eyes.
The Sinclair girl falls asleep already dreaming.

Q:. What do a person's jeans say about them?

A: Jeans are a well-told story. A creative retelling of your--how shall we say--ins and outs.
Jeans are autobiography. If you let jeans merely hide secrets, they will never get around to telling them, and that is where your story begins. Your story is more than legs and swagger, hips and hikes. More than physical. Your story is the truth you carry and your jeans - chip away at this.

The meaning of jeans is not fixed--as in, "Wear these jeans and you will exude confidence." No, they are a peculiar alphabet of beauty, each stitch and curve speaks a new language unique to you. The way you wear them changes, and with it, the universe. It is shifting; with your mood, your gait, your complementary pieces. Each time you wear them you begin to arrange words all over again, the meaning of which is not fixed or predictable, but upon which meaning is place by the ones who are spoken too--i.e. the whole goddamned world outside your doorstep. The strangers on the sidewalk, the company of friends, all living things. Did you not notice us? We were staring as you passed .

Jeans are not an answer to your longings, but an invitation to declare them.

Jeans have a shape and a direction of their own. Where they are leading you may not know.

A person's jeans should say ... "You did not find me ... I found you."

Eye-Catching Jeans: Blank NYC Legacy in Hooky

Lisette Loves Blank-01.jpg

Every once in a while I see a pair of jeans that is really outstanding, be it in a pattern or style or wash or all of those together! By this I mean, some jeans that are different from those blue jeans we see all the times, that you can't really tell what brand they are unless you look at the label.

This time I was walking the Intermezzo show here in NYC and wow, as I walked by our New York based very own brand BLANK NYC, I really literally stopped in my tracks. These bleached out tie dyed jeans with splatter detailing absolutely had me!

These are the the Legacy straight leg in the"Hooky" wash. They are 98% cotton and 2% Spandex, and they come in a 34 inch length. Easy to use, a straight cut leg, you can either wear them rolled up or slouchy dragging on the ground. Personally, I prefer to style them with super platforms, a skimpy plain white tank top and a black short tuxedo jacket. But I also like the way they are shown here, paired with a denim shirt.

Oh yes and one more thing: the price tag! $88! Blank NYC really gives us the best for the best price!

Cult Of Individuality: Selvedge Denim For Fashionistas

CofI-Ex Boyfriend -AlterEgo-Composite.jpg

He (or she) who thinks that selvedge jeans are always a "serious" matter, will be proven wrong right now!

Ron Poisson from Cult Of Individuality shows us a cool way to be fashionably selvedge.....none of those dark and somber unwashed and untreated denim jeans, very much the opposite. For women, he made a cute ex-boyfriend jean, which is actually a slimmer version of the boyfriend and therefore more sexy. His selvedge comes with 1% stretch, so girls will still have the comfort of a kind of giving denim. For summer you can still wear a selvedge denim short with the scratching and stiffening side effects.

For you guys, Ron created a straight leg, the Hagen and a more comfortable leg, the Rebel, both available in washes ranging from stonewashed to grey.

Definitely, the pair that got me has to be the wrinkled selvedge jeans in the last image! They look like they just came out of the wringer!!! But as you wear them, the creases get less and less pronounced and in the end they just look like extremely cool, skinny, wrinkled jeans.

Lisette Loves: Cult Of Individuality Railroad Jeans

723-141A-Composite.jpg

One of the best things about being a "denimologist" is that I always have a good excuse to be on the hunt for some denim that is different - a denim that stands head and shoulders above all the other denim. So, I was checking out what was new with Cult of Individuality and guess what? Yeah, I did find an amazing pair of different jeans - The Railroad Jeans - and guess some more, they have them for men and for women!

I don't know how the men's fit, but I tried on the women's and the only reason I did not walk out of the showroom with them was that they were not my size. But Ron Poisson, creator and designer of Cult of Individuality, sent me a pair and since then I am railroad addicted. First off, the wash is amazing. Ron had the great idea to turn the material inside out, which gives them a worn and faded look right off the bat. With strategically added rips and stains, these jeans look as if you had been wearing them forever. Another plus is that they only have 1% stretch, which makes them get a bit loose after you have worn them for a day or so. This only adds to the "I live in these jeans" look. Just the way I love it. And, hey, because of that limited stretch, there's no way they get baggy even after days of use.

This said, thank you Ron for creating an amazingly different pair of jeans for us denim addicts. :-)

Lisette Loves: Joe's Deedi Skinny Jeans

LisetteLovesJoes-DEEDI_1213.jpg

When Joe's Jeans last year came out with their micro-flare concept, I thought how perfect for someone who's too short to wear a regular flare. Unfortunately, the inseam was much too long for my mere frame... sigh..... They came out with the same model in petite, but still too long. I would have had to wear Lady Gaga's platform shoes to pull those off without hemming. And the worst part was that I absolutely loved the wash of these jeans.

So, the other day I was visiting my friend Miguel in Bloomie's. He is one of their denim experts and always keeps on track with the newest of the new denim trends. He showed me these new Joe's that have just come out and were actually almost sold out already. OMG! These are the same amazing wash as those micro-flares from last year but in a skinny version!

Joe's sent me a pair of their new Joe's Skinny Crop Jeans in Deedi and now I am living in them. The most amazing thing about these jeans is that they actually fit like a glove. They mold to my body, they sit tight at the right place (on the waist) and hold my shape without pinching on my legs. Oh, and one more thing: Joe's is one of the few denim brands that I have seen so far that runs absolutely true to size. Their waist is what it says on their label and the jeans sit absolutely on the waist. Not below and not above.

Available at any of the Joe's stores and online for $165.

Lisette Loves: G-Star, The 3D Super Skinny Arc Pants

G-Star - Clemence Poesy.jpg

Sometimes I get really upset when I am wearing skinny jeans because they either slide down my butt when I am sitting down or appear perfect overall, but once I need to climb up some steps, they pinch at and hurt my legs, because the lower part of the pant leg is so skinny that the jeans just can't adapt to my movements. That was a really big problem for me and one of the reasons why I always preferred boyfriends or drop crotch jeans.

But then, last year I got the chance to try on some Arc Skinny jeans, one of the famous G-Star staples, and now I am hooked. These jeans are cut in a way that looks as if they were made for bow-legged people. I really thought at first, oh, how weird, what is this about?!! But now I understand, they are made to follow your body movements totally. I don't have sliding or pinching problems while I am wearing them. At least, I didn't during the time I was "testing" them in the store. And after all, they're G-Star!!

Definitely worth a try if you are having the same kinds of problems I do!
