I design bespoke jeans in Washington DC, I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on some of my designs. Here is a pic of my "betty short shorts" http://twitpic.com/91rit. Let me know what you think.

The construction looks poor. Pay attention to the stitching as well.

Can you elaborate more on where you feel the stitching is poor???

To tell you a little about these shorts, They are made from 14.5 oz Japanese selvedge denim. They have hidden crocodile details and the pockets are lined with a light velveteen (the pockets are really soft). I left the shorts raw and also left the leg opening undone on purpose, The client wants to age them in Naturally.

They are very plain looking.

Actually initially i had just seen the first 3 pics. I now see that you have a full gallery of them.
My thoughts were specifically that:
-The material looked thin. (as per your last post I now know that this is not the case).
-For me personally single-stiched novelty pockets are pointless. (but then again i'm a guy).
- I thought that the design looked too contrived (however the fact that your client had wanted to break them in herself explains why).
Out of curiosity, after accounting for superior materials, and handmade workmanship what makes your shorts special? (Not a criticism, just a question).
Take all of this with a grain of salt. I know absolutely nothing about making jeans.

Thanks for the feedback " CupCakes", you are right they do look plain, at first glance. I have been listening and watching many denim enthusiast over the past few years and have developed a deep love for denim and its heritage. Raw denim is like a child waiting to be taught. When I design a pair of jeans for someone I am basically designing a blank denim canvas for them to add their life story to. Yes they do look plain at first, but even in them being plain they have hidden details that set them apart. If you look at more of my pics you will see that in the design of my back pocket I have hidden some crocodile leather, It took me years to get this design right. I wear a wallet in the back pocket of my favorite pair of jeans ( It never leaves them), my wallet sparked the idea for this design. Overtime as you wear the jeans the leather hidden in the back pocket will begin to show slightly, It never fully opens it shows through just the right amount. In the case of these shorts this client loves to be at the beach. As she wears these shorts and they start to form to her body the crocodile leather in the back pocket will began to show. Once she finally washes them and the denim has developed a nice worn look the leather will compliment the Denim. This design comes alive with age. It doesn't get better than denim and leather to me, They both age gracefully. I have a full line of washed jeans in the works to add to my raw designs, they will be hand-aged in Japan. p.s. "CrazyBubba" the pockets on the shorts are double stitched. For most of my designs I use a double needle stitch and a chainstitch . ill post some detail shots in a bit. here is a shot of a male Customer or mine in what i call my "Bruno" jean http://twitpic.com/6q5wc

Oh thats pretty cool how you have the crocodile skin on back pockets.
I prefer to buy my jeans that have already have the worn look, destressing ect. But that's just me. I mean i will pay money to look destressed and worn looking.
You should post pics of someone wearing the shorts.

I actually like the relatively plain look - I'm not a huge fan of the pre-made heavily worn/distressed look - but from the pics at least, it doesn't look like the back pockets are very flattering, especially in relation to the rest of the shorts.

Hey Kapbespoke. where do you find your denim? its looks really good. I like the way the long jeans look. I am not too big on pocket details but I like the idea. I like the leather belt loops.
