I have a pair of Keetar and Sparker jeans and I fail to see what makes these better than your average $60 levis.

No one said any brand is better than another. I love my Levi's AND my Diesel's. :)

I guess what I'm asking is if someone could explain the process that a pair of Diesel jeans go through in order to be made. Is the higher cost due to marketing or actual costs of production?

I've been to a factory this year and they make make HUGE spools of one type of demin and cut it from there. But I don't know who makes the spools or how.

well when it comes to denim prices...yes it's true, some brands are expensive because of their name (i will remain silent about who those companies are). but, when it comes to almost every premium denim brands, you're paying for 5 things, the cottons they've sourced, the actually weaving of the denim, the washing process (if they aren't raw), and any features adorning the product (patches, hardware, fancy stitching, ect.), and paying the seamstresses and artisans that are actually working on the jeans. although they're all jeans, every brand is made completely different from one another. everything from the washing, to the looms used, to the cotton used, the hardware used, everything. absolutely everything is completely different from one another. sometimes some brands are even made in the same factory and they're still different from one another. it's all about the care and time put in to create the denim that creates the price point.

I've actually been to factories where they make run of the mill jeans. I'm more interested in the specific brands typically discussed here.
