How Evisu Jeans Fade

evisu_1.jpg
For me the most interesting thing about a pair of jeans is the way that they age with wear creating distinctive fading that is unqiue to the owner. Over at the Evisu.com blog they have a great post which demonstrates the fabulous contrasts that can be worn into a pair of their jeans over the years.

The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife by RMC

red-monkey-jeans-octopus.jpg
Now here is the most unusual denim story of 2008. Red Monkey Company are to make a limited edition run of jeans based on the antique erotic artwork The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife by Hokusai which shows a woman being ravished by two octopuses. There will only be 60 pairs of these jeans produced which I think it about right because I can't imagine there are that many people out there who fancy wearing a pair of jeans featuring tentacle eroticism. Red Monkey Company's Obama Jeans

jkhho10.jpg
T-shirts, posters, mugs...it was just a matter of time before denim got a shot of Obama-fever. UK's Red Monkey Company, known for their embellished graphics, is celebrating United States' next president with limited edition 'Yes We Can' jeans, to be released in January 2009. Looks like further proof that Barack Obama has even non-Americans getting patriotic about a new political era.

RMC has also just recently released a super-limited edition gold-embroidered logo jean for their 6th anniversary. No worries if you can't cop a pair though, because the label has made similar ones with a painted logo instead of the embroidery. Some examples of their psychedelic, Japanese-inspired graphics are after the jump. See more at togged or djpremium.

Massa Jeans - From Idea To Reality

massa_1.jpg
Here is a story to warm the cockles of your heart - there was once a guy called Yogo from Sydney, Australia who loved denim but hated paying so much for premium jeans that he decided to make his own. After visiting some denim mills in Osaka, Japan he was given an opportunity to buy a small quanity of high quality selvedge denim. With the help of his friend Brian (who did the cutting and assembling) he set about making a small run of simple classic jeans. The end result is Massa Jeans and as you can see from these photos all the hard work has paid off because the jeans that he has produced look as good if not better than those you get from many major international brands.

Amsterdam Denim Head Derby

adhd1.jpg
The Amsterdam Denim Head Derby is a contest being held among 25 dutch denim ethusiasts. Each competitor has been given a special pair of ADHD Japanese purple ear selvedge jeans which they are to wear for five months, five days a week, 9-till-5. At the end of that time the pair of jeans showing the most interesting wear and tear and fading will be crowned the winner.
