Sugarcane 1947 – Aged By Broox

s47.jpg
One of the most interesting things about an old pair of jeans is the unique patterns of wear and tear that are worn into the denim over time. Specialist denim store Self Edge wanted to see what a pair of jeans would look like after they were given a real battering, so that gave a pair of Sugarcane 1947 Jeans to Broox, a chef at one of their local restaurants in San Franciso. Broox chooses to live of the streets not because he is down and out or an addict but because he finds one home too constricting and prefers life outdoors. The jeans were worn 24/7 between November 2006 to July 2007 and as you can see the resulting fading, fraying, tears and repairs gives a vivid visual representation of the wearer's experience over that time (Source: Superfuture)

Visvim Fluxus Denim Damaged-2

I'm not usually a fan of jeans that come pre-distressed but at least this pair of Visvim Fluxus Denim Damaged-2 have an aged appearance that could be considered vaguely genuine. (Source: HighSnobiety)

Swagger Bling Bling Denim

These jeans from Swagger are about as subtle as their name - Bling Bling Denim. They feature coloured crystals sewn onto the front and $ signs dotted onto the rear pockets, along with a label saying "$32". Maybe I am getting old but it is beyond me who these jeans could be aimed at. (Source: SlamXHype).

Denim Prediction - Grunge Is On The Way Back

js3.jpg
Jeans may have been invented in American but one of the most fashion forward countries when it comes to denim is Japan. Anyone wanting to predict future denim trends should always remember to check out Japan's fashion magazines. If the June issue of Nippon Vogue is anything to go by then grungy jeans may be due for a comeback. Model Jessica Stam manages to pull this look off, but you have to have the right attitude - otherwise you could just end up look like a dodgy old punk.

Levi’s Fenom Turquoise DISCO VIII

The Levi's Fenom Disco collection is one of the more interesting denim collaborations around at the moment. A new addition to this line is the turquoise jewel encrusted Disco VIII jean created by the artists/designers at Fragment. As usual with these sort of things it's only available in Japan.
