Takumi Jeans is a new American denim label that has taken the smart step of having their jeans handcrafted in Japan and the results are worth the extra effort. These jeans stand up very well against a lot of the more established denim brands out there. The denim is high quality selvedge, the indigo dye is deep, dark and rich and the cuts are classic straight leg. These are the kind of jeans that will stand the test of time and will only get better with age.

Levis Fenom Ruby Disco Rigid

The Samurai Denim Contest

A group of denim heads from the SuperFuture Forum have entered into a competition to see who can get the best natural fade on their jeans. Each of the 30 entrants bought an identical pair of Samurai SO500XX Jeans on Nov 1st last year. After twelve months photos each pair of jeans will be posted online where you can vote on the pair which you think has aged the best. In the meantime you can keep up with the progress of the jeans at DenimContest.com.

UNIQLO Japanese Premium Denim Collection

UNIQLO, Japan’s most popular apparel retailer are launching a Japanese Premium Denim Collection. If you read this site regularly you will know that if you want the best jeans in the world you are going to have to go to Japan or get them imported - and it is going to cost you. However because UNIQLO has 750 stores globally and is buying in bulk they have been able to negotiate prices with Japanese suppliers that means they are currently the ownly company able to retail premium Japanese denim outside of Japan at super low prices - $39.50 to $59.95. The collection includes all types of denim from skinny to super-wide available in a range of finishes and washes.

atmos × Levi's S501XX Jeans

Here's another collaboration from Levi's this time with Japanese brand atmos. They have taken some classic 1944 and 1955 Levi's and added a trainer and label print (1944) and some coloured emobroidered stars (1955). Currently they are only available in Japan however they can be ordered online from atmos (Source: Freshnessmag).

National Yellow Crew Jeans

The National Yellow Crew have launched the above pair of selvedge denim jeans. These jeans join many others coming out of the Far East that bear more than a passing resemblance to classic Levi's 501s.
