Kings of Leon in Dior Homme Jeans

Kings-of-leon-dior-homme-jeans-JT.jpg

Brothers Caleb, Nathan, Jared and cousin Matthew Followill were photographed leaving Los Angeles to head back to the UK where they first found fame. It's about time they became popular in the US! I've been playing my Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night album since I scored it in the UK last fall! My favorite song is I Want You and I need new music! I am ready! Anyway, back to the designer denim. I'm no expert on Dior Homme (I'm working on it!) but two or maybe three of them are of them are wearing Dior Homme Jeans for the flight across the pond.

Gap1969 London Pop Up Store

1969_gap_jeans_LJ2.jpg

On September 10th, for 19 days and 69 hours, a new Gap1969 pop up store will open in London. The three-floor store on Kingly Court will showcase an extensive range of Gap's iconic denim styles, specially produced in uniquely engineered washes. Strictly limited edition, only 69 pairs of each style will be available, each pair individually stamped and numbered. To mark Gap's 40 year anniversary, on opening day only, shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase a limited edition pair of Gap rinsed jeans in their favorite Gap fit for only £19.69, with half the profits from all jeans sold going towards the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

In association with Gap Design Editions, Designers Pierre Hardy and Albertus Swanepoel have both created bespoke denim pieces for the store. Gap's new season ankle boot by Pierre Hardy is re-worked in unwashed indigo, whilst Albertus Swanepoel has designed a black felt wool riding hat with denim peak. For the second instalment of the initiative, the 1969 store will host the European launch of Pharrell Williams' new Bionic Gap Collection. In association with Gap Japan and Patrick Robinson, Pharrell has re-defined classic Gap styles, creating a capsule wardrobe all produced from his patented 'bionic yarn' made from recycled plastic bottles.

Lee Westerners Collection Exclusive

lee07.jpg

Lee is expanding its highly authentic Lee Originals : The Archive line for SS10 with a capsule collection of rare Japanese replica pieces will become available exclusively at oki-ni from September 2009. First introduced to the market in 1959 to reflect the diversification of the denim market, the Lee Westerners (sometimes called Lee Whites) were the first white dress-up jeans and jackets. The Westerner pant is a version of Lee's most revered jeans shape, the slim 101Z. Remade in Westweave Sateen, it is called the 100Z. This is joined by a slim 101J style jacket called the 100J and a Westerner shirt in the same fabric.

The Lee Westerners collection will be available exclusively at oki-ni outside Japan in four colors, tan, ecru, khaki and black.

Momotaro - Hand Loom

Momotaro in Japan have put this interesting video on YouTube of their wooden hand loom that they have in one of their stores in Okayama. With a retail price near $2000 USD, these jeans are for denim purists. The labor involved in the process is amazing, it also makes for some really interesting viewing. You can grab a pair of Momotaro at Blue in Green.

Steve McQueen - Style Icon

Steve McQueen, born March 24, 1930, is a style icon. After interviewing a fair few menswear labels over the years when asked the question "who is your denim influence," 90% of designers reply with "Steve McQueen." There is no doubt the man is a legend not only for his movies but his style. An avid motorcycle and car racer, Mr. McQueen also lent his hand to inventing, having designed and patented one of the first car racing bucket seats.

We at Denimology thought we should bring you some images of this the man himself to both take inspiration from but also to give you a reference on how fashion is one big circle and all looks and styles get recycled in time only with a little bit more of a modern twist. Might encourage you to keep those 90's torn stone washed jeans you threw out in 2000. How handy they would be now....
