Neuw Black Colour Collection

GIRLS_PINK_700.jpg

This season every denim brand has their own version of coloured denim and Australian label Neuw (who we first featured last Autumn) have come up with Black Colour. This collection for both men and women features a more subdued range of hues compared to some of the candy-coloured denim we have seen from other brands. Check their website for stockists.

Simon Spurr 5th Anniversary Jeans

174407_mrp_ou_xl.jpg

MrPorter.com is rapidly becoming one of my favourite men's online retailers. Even if you aren't in the spending mood it is a great store to just browse through. One of the products that caught my eye was this special 5th Anniversary Jeans from Simon Spurr, there were only 100 of them manufactured and MrPorter have got their hands on 50 of them. Each pair if individually numbered and signed. The price is pretty steep at £394.99, but then that is what you have to pay to ensure that there are only going to be 99 other people in the world looking as cool as you.

Dsquared² Menswear Spring 2012 Denim

dsquared-spring-menswear-2012--1.jpg

Dsquared² denim designing duo, Dean and Dan Caten are back to providing a loud collection with a bit of camp, thank goodness. I basically panned last years collection after they sent a boring display of black and white cattle prodders down the catwalk last season. I mean, gag me with a cattle iron; it was sooo boring. But never fear my favorite denim devoted doubles are back and bringing on the brights too! Yes boys, while the ladies will be rocking the brights all Summer long in 2011, it appears you will be joining us if left to the Dsquared² twins.

Oh and later this month, the Caten's are launching a purely sartorial "Classic Collection," to highlight the fact that they're capable of traditional (well... sort of) tailoring.

With a resounding sigh, I can gladly say I'm immensely pleased with the show these boys displayed. Welcome back brothers.

HallOfFade.com Dry vs Dry Denim Contest

Hall of fade Hall Of Fade.jpg

One of the most enjoyable aspects of a pair of raw denim jeans is the way that they wear in and fade gradually over time resulting in a pair of jeans which are totally unique to wearer. A new site has recently launched called HallOfFade.com which is dedicated to bringing together the best photos of aged and worn denim from around the world. In addition they are also running a Dry Vs Dry Contest which is open to anyone that wears raw denim. All you have to do it upload a photo of your jeans which will then be voted on by users of the site. The winner will receive three pairs of jeans provided by the contest sponsors SelfEdge, ProntoDenim and Cultizm.

Tommy Style - Ksubi Kolors

DSC_0017.JPG

So for my last spring in New England, I am not impressed at all. It has been raining or cloudy for about 3 weeks non-stop. The sun finally came out and every person that lives in Rhode Island came out of their house to enjoy it. I won't have to worry about the weather soon because I leave June 14 for my road trip and lets be honest... California has the best weather.

Spring is an awesome opportunity to step up your wardrobe with color, and these Ksubi Kolors for Men jeans are the perfect jean to do it with. A lot of people are hesitant when it comes to bright colored jeans because they don't know how to wear them properly. First of all, do not be scared to pair two colors from the same color family, limit it to two, because three or more just looks silly. I was going to wear an awesome bright blue scoop neck tee with these but I thought this navy blue blazer went perfectly with the shade of green. Boat shoes are something that everyone should own, and something I am obsessed with right now. If there is one thing you should know about me, it is that I HATE wearing socks and these shoes are so comfortable with or without socks and go with everything. I chose to keep my shirt simple because I think the jeans are loud enough.

The Ksubi Kolors for Men come in two different fits, Chitch, which is a high rise, slim leg and is rigid. The other fit Van Winkle with a low rise, stretch and super skinny legs. Chitch is the fit I will be reviewing today. For waist size I normally wear a size 29 and this pair are a size 32, so I'd definitely have to wear a belt with them. Personally I think that I'd really enjoy the Van Winkle fit, however the Chitch are better than I thought they would be. Besides the fact that they are the wrong size, these jeans are effortlessly cool. This is my first pair of Ksubi jeans, but I have to say... keep up the good work. There are a few subtle details to get excited over. First is their logo on the back right side of the jeans, several small rows of crosses. On the side of the left leg, there are two black crosses that look like addition signs inside of two boxes, at first I thought these were random but they actually add some character to the jeans. With a 98% cotton and 2% spandex mix, these jeans can be washed in the washing machine, which is pretty convenient, also the blend makes for a very comfortable jean.

Although I wish I had tried on my size, these are definitely my favorite pair of jeans I have reviewed thus far, and I am now a huge fan of Ksubi.

The Ksubi Kolors jeans reviewed here are available all over the place. For a list of online stockists please check Ksubi.com

ManVsDenim.com - Tom 1st Update

P6070253.JPG

The indigo wears out, and the jeans wear in. Over the last month or so, the Natural Selection 14oz Smith Straight K Raw Jeans I am wearing in as part of the ManVsDenim Contest have softened up a lot. The fit of the jeans still makes them slightly restrictive, which is possibly due to the little bit of extra post-Christmas weight which I put on.

The denim itself is beautiful. Some exciting (annoying) staining of my white boat shoes, and awkward moments when getting frisky (I wish) on pale sofa's has evidenced the colour change in the denim as it starts to pale a little and the indigo gets deposited around my world. The denim is now lovely and soft, and they are very comfortable.

The main hardship over the last month or so has been the fact they are 14oz denim, which does indeed get quite 'sweaty thigh' at times. They're not a pair to be caught running for a bus in. True commitment will be required to grin and bear the daily wear over the summer, a task which I look forward to. Indigo stained thighs are a small price to pay for comfy trousers. There have been no issues with any of the buttons (which were super tough to close at first), and all the rivets are well and truly in the places they began. The jeans look great, and minus a few paled patches due to phone in the pocket, and a drink spilt in Ocean, they are maintaining their unwashed selvedge denim deep blue indigo glory very well. Cheers Natural Selection, great pair of jeans.
