Nadel & Pen - Denim With A Message
Nadel & Pen is a new denim brand from Tilmann Wröbel (of Monsieur T) who has plenty of experience having been involved in creating collections for Quiksilver, Roxy and Lee Cooper. The name which is a combination of German And English ("Nadel" = "Needle" and "Pen" = "Pen") gives an indication of where the label is coming from - each pair of jeans contains two messages which are printed on the inside (shown below right). One message tells about the history of denim and the other is a universal recommendation such as "do not wash", which I assume refers to the jeans rather than they person wearing them. The first collection consisting of six styles available in three fabrics (stretch, rigid and vintage) and three washes (dirty, dark used, and washed) will be available in France from Jan 2010 and everywhere else shortly afterwards..
Obey & Levi's Collaboration
Shepard Fairey, the artist responsible for the "Hope" post of Barack Obama has collaborated with Levi's to produce a capsule collection including denim jackets which have a Fairey artwork on the inner lining and jeans which have customized patches on the front and back pockets. The artist will also be creating a live art installation at The Levi's Store in Times Square on Oct 29th. (Source: HighSnobiety)
Jamie Campbell Bower in Diesel
Twilight Saga: New Moon star Jamie Campbell Bower (who stole my heart in Sweeney Todd) and his girlfriend Zoe Graham took in the sites of Rome after screening a few more scenes from the Twilight franchise at the 2009 International Rome Film Festival. Jamie who plays Caius in Twilight, takes on the denim on denim trend wearing Diesel Jeans and a denim shirt looking ab fab from my teenage point of view. For the record, it was very difficult to write to words "girlfriend" in the above.
