Trend to Watch: Prison Break Stripes

The denim specialist trend forecasters Trendstop.com say that bold, block statement stripes translate to denim for a Prison Break look.
Broad-band horizontal stripes featured on the Fall/Winter 2012 runways for both men's and womenswear, across knits and wovens. Now the bold stripe translates to denim, and is executed tone on tone for a touch of prison utility. The look works well on denim shirts, and directional denim shirt derivatives. For less utility, the stripe works as a thick optic contrast in horizontal or vertical for a slimming effect on the leg. Simple sports inspired shapes are also updated for Fall 2013 in denim. Contrast navy and sky blue stripes are cut across the body and onto the sleeve on a woven polo shirt in heavy chambray, alternatively a crew neck T has a deconstructed feel with raw edge indigo and stone washed stripes. For women, a gradient stripe effect on a simple T-shift gives denim a smart chic feel.

Trend to Watch: Integrated Lace

Today we have a guest post from denim specialist trend forecasters Trendstop.com who are predicting that romantic summer lace looks translate into denim for a look of urban romance.
Lace has already been seen in directional collections in various streetwise permutations, such as fluoro, modern folk, paneled or tapestry stripes, and it is high time the lace look translated across to denim. The antique associations of lace and lace looks clash with the informal, relaxed qualities of denim to add a touch of vintage femme. Lace or lace effects are overlayed, underlayed, appliquéd or merged onto jeans, shorts, jackets and over-shirts, creating a feminine grunge aesthetic.
Crochet laces update the ubiquitous denim cut off, intermixed with either a single cotton crochet panel or needle lace pockets. Used white-on-white tonally or on light blue denim, the lace look has a romantic 70's summer feel. Conversely, fluoro lace patches are integrated into the weave of light summerweight chambrays and placed to mimic a patch pocket on a denim shirt. Monochrome lace is overprinted onto a neutral denim skinny complete with crease effects around the waistband, pockets and belt loops for added interest. Pale denim is given a bridal baroque air using white lace bonded to the denim as well as lace swirls and holes woven into the denim.
