Big Star Denim Helps Haiti at Project Trade Show
Selling jeans and introducing their new "Vintage" denim line to the masses was the main purpose for Big Star Denim served during the Project Las Vegas Trade Show. But the good willed denim line also had a more generous endeavor taking place during the show: Helping Haiti.
The interior and exterior walls of the Big Star booth were decorated with real U.S. tender. There were even a few hundred dollar bills on the booth walls! The Big Star team set up a contribution container at the front of the booth and over the course of the three day trade show, owner Yul Ku and his Big Star team peeled the dollars off of the booth and deposited them in the contribution containers. Their hope was to encourage others to donate in a bid to not let people forget the catastrophic natural disaster that hit the already poverty stricken country. Big Star wants to keep this tragedy fresh in people's thoughts.
In the end, Big Star's collection totaled around $13,500 and is being donated to the American Red Cross's disaster relief fund for Haiti.

Blue Jean Bandits Strike Again
I did a double take when I read the story, but apparently early Monday, thieves drove a stolen van into a Nordstrom store near Atlanta, and fled with armloads of premium denim valued at $13,000. This was the second time in the last few months that robbers hit this mall, as robbers took $17,000 in premium denim from Bloomingdale's. The van crashed into one of the store's exterior entrances and three men grabbed 87 pairs of jeans. They left the van behind and escaped on foot.
Police are unsure whether the latest robbery could be linked to the "Blue Jean Bandits", a gang that has stolen more than $1.5 million in premium denim from some 70 Atlanta-area stores since 2007. Wait, what? There is an actual gang called the Blue Jean Bandits who's crime is stealing designer denim? It's almost laughable, as I am picturing a bunch of flamboyant robbers decked out in rhinestone encrusted denim ski masks carrying armfuls of Rock & Republics, True Religion and J Brand jeans!
The moral of the story: these crooks are either selling this denim off illegally or using it to make fakes more likely... fakes are never in fashion, and crime doesn't pay! And yeah, we can tell those are fake 7's on your backside sweetie!
Levi's x Medicom Toy 1000% Bearbrick
Back in 2007 we wrote about the little toy bear that was produced by Medicom as a part of a collaboration they did with Levi's. In 2010 they have produced a giant version of the same bear which comes covered in denim and can be seen at the Levi's Concept Store in Taiwan. (Source: Hypebeast)
Levi's x Cram Jam Chest Soft Puppy
Here is a fun collaboration courtesy of Levi's and some folks called Cram Jam Chest who specialize in making what I would call fabric scuptures, or what other people might call cuddly toys. This cuddly puppy has been made from vintage Levi's and is available from their store in Shibuya, Japan.
Jet 6 Denim Dungarees.... Information Please?!
