Haute Couture Denim Fall 2013
Yeah, I said it before and I am reforcing it now: Haute Couture is definitely integrating denim in its ready to wear collections. And nothing here of plain dark blue blah jeans, but - on the contrary - edgy and trendy jeans and jackets, destroyed and destructed, are entering the Haute Couture market and don't I just love it!
See above, Louis Vuitton uses multi-panel denim fabrics for a dress and pair of jeans.
Below, you can check out Kelly Wearstler, who featured motorcycle biker style jeans as well as distressed and destroyed denim.
And don't you just love the printed jeans from the so "formal" and "straight" Etro brand:
Paisley Print and Emblem Embroidered Skinny Jeans.
Denim That Caught My Attention: 3.1 Phillip Lim
I am always on the lookout for different and "unconventional" denim - it's like a kind of second nature to me to check out any denim anywhere I go and whatever I do!
These 3.1 Phillip Lim Ripped-effect Skinny Jeans certainly qualify as both different and unconventional! And especially since Phillip Lim is not actually a denim brand, but more like a Haute Couture brand. It is totally awesome that so many haute couture brands nowadays include denim in their collections. I certainly believe that in the near future, denim business suits and denim gala dresses will be totally acceptable in any business and at any red carpet events!
Introducing: The Sinclair Lisette Jeans
YAY! What can me more fun and gratifying than having a pair of jeans done exactly to your specs AND then having them named after you?!?
It all started out with some Facebook banter between the owner and designer of Sinclair, Vincent Flumiani, and me. I was kind of fantasizing about my dream jeans and Vincent jumped right in. He said he would be the one to create my dream jeans - make my dream come true?!! Well, it certainly looks like it. LOL!
This is just the first glimpse of a collaboration between yours truly and Sinclair jeans. What you see here is the prototype of what the jeans will look like.
They will be made in the USA, 100% cotton, heavy weight 20-ounce denim. Sinclair is sending me the protos right now and I will then decide about the rips, the wash and mostly the fit. I want these jeans to fit like a good old pair of jeans that you have been wearing forever and that feel like an old friend. I do not want even the tiniest bit of stretch in them, as I really love the vintage feel of 100% cotton denim.
I will keep you updated with all the new developments here and on the Denimology Facebook page.
J Brand - Summer Denim Impressions
Now that - according to the calendar, at least - summer is almost upon us in freezing cold NYC, I really feel like posting about some amazing summer jeans. Enough of all the blacks, greys and dark blues. I want white, yellow and pink and shorts and light grey boyfriends! And of course, J Brand gives me all of these. Check out this selection of what's in store for us these coming weeks and - New Yorkers! - don't give up on summer yet, it WILL arrive, and soon (I hope)!
I want to call special attention to a new fabric, the "photo ready", which J Brand is launching for fall. Check out the black jeans at the end of this post. PHOTO READY means ultra-slimming, amazing stretch, control and recovery. The perfect photo finish effect.
Photo ready stretch technology actually enhances your shape, giving the slimmest smoothest appearance with a unique power that has the ability both to lift and hold. Photo ready gives superior stretch without sacrificing its denim character - remaining true to its denim roots. Exceptional comfort and freedom of movement for all body types. AND it keeps its shape for the life of the garment, it will never bag out.
Sounds amazing, doesn't it! As soon as these jeans are available, I will make sure we provide a product review by one of our reviewers to let you know if and how these jeans really work out.
Made To Fade - Starstruck!
M2F is one of the brands that I am proud to say I helped to launch some 3 years ago YAY!! And it's really amazing that, every time I see a new collection either at the Coterie or Intermezzo tradeshow, they have gone one step beyond and created even more awesome jeans. So when I saw this star capsule collection, I thought it would be really cool to post it here. Summer is finally coming, today was our very first real spring day here in NYC, and I so believe in wearing some more colorful jeans, enough of greys and blacks and dark blues!
Lisette Loves: Frankie B. Prints
I always love to see what is new and outstanding in printed jeans. Even though I am not wearing prints all that much, I consider myself first and foremost a very objective denim critic. Therefore, it doesn't really matter if I wear or if I don't. Prints are here to stay. And I just absolutely love checking them out.
Frankie B., by Daniella Clarke, really got me when I saw her collection at Coterie a few weeks ago. I mean, literally ALL of her prints were amazing, and I chose a couple for you here to check out.
The print shown above and below, The Galaxy, is like: "Rule the cosmos" in these awesome low-rise skinnies featuring a galaxy print in shades of black, purple and pink. Classic 5-pocket style, button/zip closure. Stretch fabric. They fit like a second skin.
The Forrest: "Let's pick up some berries in the shades of the Forrest". these are also a classic 5-pocket style and made of the softest stretch fabric.
The Star Jeans: "Let's dream under the stars". These are less stretchy and none the less less comfy 5 pocket style. Personally, I prefer these exactly because they are not like leggings, but more like real jeans!
