Brand To Watch: Kao Pao Shu
Founded in 2006 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and currently located in Santa Monica, CA, Kao Pao Shu is presenting a limited edition denim line which will be available Jan 2012 at their store (1906 Olympic Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 90404) and online, with prices between $240 - $372. By the way, the name Kao Pao Shu is taken from the 1960's Kung Fu director and actress of the same name, who represents strength and longevity for women.
I had the pleasure to review their Spring/Summer 2012 collection a couple of weeks ago and I was really impressed by the fine workmanship they put into each of their denim pieces. And I urge you to check out their amazing clothes collection as well. Each of their items is a work of art.
Rihanna in Vintage Levi's
Putting on quite the show, Rihanna performs her hit song, We Found Love, on The X Factor's live elimination show in Los Angeles. The pop star appeared on the show wearing a bomber jacket and bra top from Adam Selman, Levi's jeans, Balmain boots and a Maison Martin Margiela necklace.
James Franco to Shoot 7FAM's Next Campaign!
Seriously, what can't James Franco do?
Possibly one of Hollywood's most academically accomplished stars; he has 4 degrees: a BFA and 3 MFA's. He does charity work for Art of Elysium, has a Private Pilots License, he's a mathematician and has his own production company: Rabbit Bandini Productions. I think I failed to mention that he's a producer, writer, editor, director. And oh yeah, an actor but not just any actor but ann Oscar winning, Emmy winning, Golden Globe winning actor! Oooh, that's fancy!
Well, now he'll add photographer and director of a major advertising campaign for heavy hitting L.A. denim brand, 7 For All Mankind. The actor will direct and capture the new multimedia spring 2012 campaign. For his first ever advertising shoot, Franco, will shoot celebs and models for the campaign. As for the theme, it will all California, baby.

Mad Style - J Brand 801 Leather Skinny Jeans
Hello everyone! I'm back in London and loving every moment. School has been pretty crazy and all my deadlines are looming but I couldn't wait to share about a pair of trousers that I would wear every day if given the opportunity, especially during these holiday months! J Brand has created another perfect rendition of the skinny--the 801 leathers.
These trousers hug the legs in all the right places, but have just enough stretch to remain completely wearable and comfortable despite the fact that they are leather. The many leather pants I've tried before these have either been stiff and baggy or suffocatingly tight, but these are the perfect balance. They're also my favourite style--a mid rise fit with an 8.5" inseam, falling just past my ankles.
In typical J Brand fashion its the little details that make these trousers unforgettable. They have a slightly metallic sheen, a bronze undertone that only is seen in the light, giving depth to the otherwise classic black wash. They also feature high zippers at the ankles, which can give a slightly more casual feel if unzipped with boots or flats. Left zipped down however they're great with stilettos for a night out. There is seaming at the knees and a slightly distressed look to the leather itself, making these wearable for day or night.
With the return of winter (and cozy knits) I'd wear these during the day with an oversized chunky sweater and ankle boots, and throw on my highest heels and a silky blouse for the evening. They may be an investment piece but they're completely versatile, and despite their thin feel keep you surprisingly warm, which is just another bonus for winter.
Leather trousers have been seen on countless celebrities and runways in the past months (just look to Burberry's spring 2011 show for some inspiration!), and it's clearly a trend to stay. These trousers from J Brand are my perfect mix of comfort, versatility and style, and if you want to go for a more daring look, just check out the same pants in the "Ox Blood" wash.

Paige Denim Drops the Moniker + #PaigeBlue
At the end of each New York Fashion Week, Coterie Trade Show commences. When I attended the show in September, the Paige crew handed me a package that contained everything I needed to know (I was sworn to secrecy until the time was right) about the official launch. Want the dish?

1. The new Paige logo's purpose is to unify the men's and women's collections under one logo. It represent strength and modernity. This was evident in the booth as you arrived. Johnny Pinto, The Denim Guy, snapped it here.
2. The new logo is joined by the new Paige stamp. The stamp represents their attention to detail and will be present on hangtags and such. They gave out pocket book mirrors that resembled a stamp pad as shown in the image below.
3. If you didn't know already, the brand is dropping the monikers Paige Premium Denim and PPD, now going solely by the name, Paige, for both collections.
4. The brand launched a new color - Paige Blue! They gave us a pair of their new Paige Verdugo Jeggings in Paige Blue to try out. We love 'em! The color is now a staple for the brand. We've included a super cute image of blogger Taylor Davies of Eat, Sleep, Denim reviewing her pair.
Rachel Bilson In Goldsign
Welcome back Rachel Bilson. My favourite Hollywood denim diva is back on Denimology after a a gap of over 6 weeks - which is a long time for this denim obsessed actress. She was snapped wearing a pair of Goldsign "Jenny" high rise selvage slim leg cuffed jeans whilst popping into Starbucks in LA this week.
